| What we ended up doing was learning about becoming Santa Claus. That year we took up a collection and had some friends organize a concert and we became Operation Santa Claus. We did the shopping, wrapping, shipping. Damned near killed us, but we managed to have boxes of toys and some money under the trees. The biggest challenge was getting Mathew his surfboard. After looking all over here in So Cal, we finally bought it from a shop in North Carolina and the owner of the shop delivered it himself (saved on shipping which was as much as the board). Mission accomplished. That was Christmas 2005. We have been doing some sort of Operation Santa for the kids every year since then. |
